Stretch Club hike: You Yangs

It’s time to take our stretching out of the studio and into the great outdoors!

We’re heading to the You Yangs for a beautiful bushwalk with granite boulders, big views, a bit of scrambling and, of course, plenty of time for a chat. All welcome - bring your family and friends.

The walk

We’ll meet at Turntable Car Park at 9am and tackle the East-West Walk.

It’s approximately 4.5km and takes around 2 hours at the official estimate. We have done this at a 'decent' pace in just over an hour.

Want a little more? For those who fancy some extra kilometres (and a few more steps!), you can add Flinders Peak onto the walk.

Flinders Peak is the highest point in the You Yangs, with 450 steps and some steeper sections. The official Flinders Peak walk is 3.2km return and takes around an extra 45 mins to an hour, with a great view from the top.

So you can choose your own adventure:

East-West Walk: approximately 4.5km
East-West + Flinders Peak: approximately 7.7km

If we do the East-West Walk in anti-clockwise direction, the Flinders Peak turn off is near the end of the walk so you'll be able to judge if you have time to add on the Flinders Peak section.

Getting there

Meet: Turntable Car Park, 9am

It’s approximately 1 hour 15 minutes drive from Newport.

Want to car pool?
We’ll meet at Stretch Club at 7.30am and head off together.

First 10 people to reply can grab a seat on the Stretch Club party bus! We’ll aim to arrange car pooling for others.

What time will we be back?

This is a morning adventure, not an all-day expedition!

We aim to be back at Turntable Car Park by 11.30am, depending on which walk you do and the pace of the group.

Once we’re back at Turntable Car Park, we’ll settle in for some morning tea at the picnic tables.

Bring something delicious to share

We’ll aim to leave the You Yangs at around 12.15pm so we expect to be back in Newport around 1.30.

What to bring:
- Plenty of water
- Sturdy walking shoes
- Hat + sunscreen
- Something warm/windproof
- Snacks for the walk
- Something to share for morning tea

Come for the walk. Stay for the morning tea. Leave with slightly happier legs.
